Call for Papers -- Submissions No Longer Accepted
This competitive call for papers [download pdf] seeks top manuscripts on the legal, ethical, and policy implications of the biomedical or life sciences. The lead author of the 3-4 papers selected will be invited to present the paper at the 10th Anniversary conference of the Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment & the Life Sciences (www.lifesci.consortium.umn.edu). Articles will then be considered for publication in the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology (www.mjlst.umn.edu). Travel expenses up to $2,000 will be reimbursed. Participation in the conference represents an exceptional opportunity for authors to workshop papers in development and to elicit interdisciplinary feedback from the top thinkers in the field.
Topics
Papers are invited on any topic relating to the legal, ethical, and policy dimensions of the biomedical and life sciences. Topics may include, for example, issues of oversight and regulation, human subjects research, health law and ethics, intellectual property, or environmental law and policy. The conference is highlighting issues of openness, access, and accountability, though papers may focus on other topics. We welcome analytic, theoretical, doctrinal, and empirical work. We invite submissions from any discipline, not just law or bioethics. Co-authored work is welcome, though only the lead author will be invited to present at the conference.
Eligibility
Faculty and Post-doctoral Fellows with any terminal degree (e.g., JD, MD, PhD)

Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology (MJLST)
Authors who submit papers agree that the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology (MJLST) will have first rights to publish the article. Participation in the conference does not guarantee publication of the paper in the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology; articles selected for the conference will undergo independent review by MJLST faculty and staff. The authors of the papers selected for presentation at the conference will be expected to submit full, revised manuscripts by July 17, 2009 via email to mjlst@umn.edu. If accepted for publication, article(s) will be placed in Volume 11, Issue 1, with publication expected in December 2009. Whether or not the article is accepted for publication in MJLST, authors agree to acknowledge the conference and its sponsors in all electronic and published versions of the article. In addition, the conference proceedings as a whole may be published by an academic press as a volume of collected essays; authors grant permission for inclusion of the article, if selected for publication in the volume.
