Giving

Your gifts allow us to continue to expand our unique programming and promote groundbreaking research and original scholarship in law and the life sciences.

The Consortium and Joint Degree Program are leaders in original research, scholarship, and programming. The Joint Degree Program provides exceptional students with the training to become new thinkers at the intersection of law and the life sciences.

As we face one of the biggest state budget shortfalls in our history, we are grateful for the leadership and targeted financial support from the University of Minnesota’s President Robert H. Bruininks and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost E. Thomas Sullivan, but we also seek gifts so that we may continue to grow our extraordinary programs.

As we celebrate our 10th Anniversary, our accomplishments have exceeded all expectations. The Joint Degree Program and Consortium now cross all colleges at the University of Minnesota. Currently, the Joint Degree Program offers 23 degree combinations and boasts 39 gifted students. The Consortium has expanded to 18 member centers, including the Center for Bioethics, Stem Cell Institute, Biomedical Genomics Center, Institute on the Environment, and Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy. We have received grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and The Greenwall Foundation, publishing groundbreaking research findings and recommendations. We have successfully launched the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology and publish. We have awarded over $600,000 in intramural grants. The Consortium and Joint Degree Program’s continued success, and future strength depends on increased private investment.

The University of Minnesota has become the leading institution pioneering interdisciplinary training and research on the societal implications of the life sciences. We invite you to participate in our success.
