Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy (CIDRAP)The Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy's purpose is to conduct research and provide information for policy-makers to develop and refine public policies and practices that result in the reduction of illness and death from infectious disease. The Center focuses on timely and emerging issues of greatest significance to public health and strives to create solutions targeted for widest impact. Since its inception in September 2001, CIDRAP has focused on three priorities: 1) improving the readiness of public health, infectious disease medical practice, and the health care system to respond to catastrophic events such as bioterrorism; 2) developing strategies for enhancing the ability of the farm-to-table food system to prevent, detect, and respond to deliberate contamination of food and agricultural products with infectious or toxic agents; 3) promoting the implementation of routine food irradiation to reduce the incidence of foodborne disease. CIDRAP is directed by Prof. Michael Osterholm, School of Public Health.
