October 12, 2009Prof. Wolf Elected to Institute of Medicine
With this election, Professor Wolf has received one of the highest honors in the health and medicine fields.
At its 39th annual meeting in Washington, DC, on Oct. 12, 2009, the IOM announced the names of 65 new members and five foreign associates, bringing the total of active members to 1,160 and foreign associates to 93. An additional 75 members hold emeritus status.
Prof. Wolf is McKnight Presidential Professor of Law, Medicine & Public Policy; Faegre & Benson Professor of Law; Professor of Medicine; and a Faculty Member in the Center for Bioethics at the University of Minnesota. She chairs the University's Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment & the Life Sciences. Three professors at the University of Minnesota Medical School were also among the newly elected IOM members: Karen Hsiao Ashe, MD, PhD, Department of Neurology and Neuroscience; Michelle Biros, MD, Department of Emergency Medicine; and Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, Department of Surgery.
